Joshua Kerry charged over alleged terrorism preparation involving Nigel Farage
The 28-year-old, already charged with Ann Widdecombe’s murder, faces a second allegation covering conduct police say took place between May 2024 and July 2026.

- Joshua Kerry faces one count of preparing terrorist acts under the Terrorism Act 2006.
- Police say the alleged activity included acts against Nigel Farage MP.
- The charge covers alleged conduct between 31 May 2024 and 8 July 2026.
- Kerry is due at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 7 October.
Counter Terrorism Policing announced the charge on 2 October after the Crown Prosecution Service authorised it. The police say it is an offence under section 5(1)(a) of the Terrorism Act 2006. Their announcement names Farage but does not describe the alleged preparations or say which conduct was directed at him.1
The date range ends on 8 July, the day Ann Widdecombe died. Kerry has also been charged with her murder. Both charges are allegations: the CPS says its decision to prosecute is not a finding of guilt, which only a court can determine.2
The Farage reference comes amid a separate police inquiry into an incident in April 2025 at a London address where he was then living. Police described it as an attempted burglary; after the case was reopened in August, Counter Terrorism Policing said it had identified a line of inquiry that might have been relevant. The public announcement of Kerry’s terrorism charge does not say whether it is connected to that incident.3
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the charge raised questions about security for people in public life and said she would update Parliament on work to strengthen protections.4 The CPS says Kerry is due in court on 7 October; it says its investigation is continuing with police.2
