Man dies after tiger attack at Yorkshire Wildlife Park
Police say a tiger attacked the man after he entered its enclosure near Doncaster on Saturday. The park was evacuated and closed for the weekend.

- South Yorkshire Police received reports of a man entering the enclosure at 1.35pm on Saturday, 10 October.
- The man was pronounced dead at the scene after the tiger attacked him.
- Police said the tiger was uninjured and there was no wider risk to the public.
- The park was evacuated and closed for the rest of the weekend.
Police said the man suffered serious injuries in the attack. Medical personnel tried to help him, but he died at the scene. His family has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.1
The police account establishes that he entered the enclosure, but not how he got in or why. His identity has not been disclosed. Police said officers remained at the park carrying out enquiries and asked people not to share videos circulating online.1
Visitor Karmelle Pelham told ITV she and her family were directed towards the exit as staff evacuated the park. She said she saw police officers near the enclosure, whose entrance was covered with black tarpaulin. Pelham was describing the evacuation and its aftermath; her account does not establish how the man entered.2
Yorkshire Wildlife Park said it activated its emergency response procedures and was working with authorities to establish what happened. It said the attraction would remain closed on Sunday; Sky News later reported that it was shut for the rest of the weekend.23
