Coastal roads are already impassable and some homes flooded, while warnings remain in force and the storm’s full impact is still unfolding.

- Floodwater has covered roads along the New Jersey and Delaware coasts. In Surf City, New Jersey, water has also entered homes.1
- About 60,000 customers across the north-east were without power on Saturday morning, according to an Associated Press report.2
- New Jersey declared emergencies in eight counties; New York declared one in eight counties and activated its emergency operations centre.34
- Manasquan urged people in some low-lying areas to evacuate voluntarily. The National Weather Service warned that coastal flooding could continue through Sunday.56
The storm has moved beyond forecasts into flooded streets and homes. But the danger is not over: the weather service warned of another round of high water, with one to two feet of inundation possible in low-lying areas and many roads at risk of becoming impassable.6
Those warnings have particular consequences for people who cannot easily move themselves, their vehicles or their belongings. Manasquan’s evacuation recommendation singled out older residents and people with support needs in flood-prone, non-elevated homes. The storm’s full toll remains unclear as conditions continue to develop.
