- A Russian strike drone hit Stolychnyi market in Sofiivska Borshchahivka, outside Kyiv, and killed two people.1
- Ukrainian officials gave differing early injury counts at the market, from three or four to about ten.12
- Kyiv was attacked repeatedly; a separate overnight strike killed a man in the capital, and Mayor Vitali Klitschko said nine people were injured there.34
- Russian strikes also killed people in Sumy and Kharkiv, according to local officials cited by Reuters.3
The market strike set fire to buildings and vehicles at the site, according to Reuters. Sofiivska Borshchahivka is in Bucha district, on Kyiv’s western outskirts, not within the capital itself. The Kyiv Regional Prosecutor’s Office attributed the strike to a Russian drone. The available reports do not independently establish the weapon’s launch point or intended target.13
The casualty figures came in as rescue and emergency services responded. Kyiv Mayor Klitschko initially reported four people injured at the market, while regional officials and police gave counts of three; the prosecutor’s office said about ten were hurt. Reuters later reported about ten injured. The reports establish two deaths, but not a settled injury total.123
The market attack came amid strikes on Kyiv city and other regions. The Kyiv Independent reported a man killed overnight in the capital, damage to homes and other buildings, and further attacks during Sunday. Reuters reported two deaths in Sumy and one in Kharkiv, citing local officials.34
There is no single reliable all-day toll in the reports. The Associated Press reported at least eight people killed in Ukraine in an earlier Sunday update, before the market strike was reported. Later, the Kyiv Independent gave a toll of 14 dead and 57 injured across Ukraine over the preceding day, but its regional breakdown does not clearly reconcile with the late market deaths.56
